It's "ROCK"TOBER!

Happy UN-Birthday October 39ers!

October and Rock music have had ghoulish fun together since Rock and Roll Rescued Radio in the mid-1950s. From DJ John Zacherle’s “Cool Ghoul” (name given him by Dick Clark), to the legendary Wolfman Jack, October is just plain fun.

Great 39er Rockers share this month’s limelight, with notable pumpkin-flavored birthdays – keep the beat with Chuck Berry (Oct. 18), explore the inane with Weird Al (Oct. 23), and lead us to temptation, with Otis Williams, last surviving member of The Temptations (Oct. 30). Best of all ...

October is the month when adults get to be kids again and dress up for Halloween. What more could you want?! Ummmm, how about a zombie-style cocktail? Yum-rum!

October UN-birthday buddies split their Zodiac time between Libra and Scorpio … You would think Libra’s gentle sense of balance and order would clash with Scorpio’s intense and pulsing passion.

Libra's thirst for knowledge, however, is a perfect match for Scorpio’s intellectual purpose to teach metamorphosis. They need each other, trust me. (With two sons, a daughter-in-law, a niece-in-law, and a dear cousin who are the former, and me the latter … well, we enjoy some spirited discussions!)

October’s birthday gems are deceptively benign: tourmaline in a variety of colors, and the cryptic opal are deep and sparkly. Lighten your birthday month mood with a selfie-bouquet of marigolds, symbol of eternal love – and cosmos, a flower of peace.

Whatever you do with your fave October 39er, or for yourself – enjoy the crisp air and golden-orange leaves of fall, this month. And perhaps a stroll down Mockingbird Lane. Wave to Herman and Lily Munster – and let out a long, soulful Wolfman Jack Halloween hoooowwwwll!

Happy UN-Birthday October 39ers!
(Especially to: Ron, Darlene, Tammy, & Kim!)
