39ers Aging with ATTitude August 2025

August’s Endless Summer Magic Isn’t Solitary, 39ers!

08/18/25: Finally! Still not gonna post a sad photo of me with my foot elevated in a post-op “shoe”; suffice it to say, life hasn’t cooperated with my plans this month. However, August’s 39er fun has arrived! What’s left of it … sigh. It is still worth a full article of 39er Zodiac star gazing, monthly special days, and a few life perspectives. Let’s get to it …

֎ Celebrating AUGUST 39ers ~ And More!
Happy UN-Birthday August 39ers!
♪ And many more… ♪ May your future be as bright as the Summer sun. Let’s party!

We’re wrapping up our 2025 Endless Summer with more fun in the sun (even if you never go outside!) and late, but still viable entertainment for all 39ers. But first, for our August UN-birthday partiers …

August’s 39er Stars of the Sky

Leo (07/23-08/22) and Virgo (08/23-09/22) vie for the spotlight in the Summer sun, as we speed around the Zodiac and zip through the stars. Our dear Lions finish up their feature month by the 22nd, convincing everyone how creative they are and roaring into the next three months, implementing their new projects with ease. And are you Leos in sync with your loved ones? If not, don’t be afraid to compromise with transparency. The outcome could be heartwarming.

On the 23rd, we spin into Virgo’s efficiency sign to find them empowered over expenses and keeping a watchful eye on their cash flow. They’re very good at maintaining a healthy financial stream. Once they’re convinced all is good, they’ll turn to finishing up a health issue and with the New Moon in their sign (23rd), make time to settle relationships. Be there for them.

Need to buy an UN-birthday gift for your Leo or Virgo fabulous friend? Befitting their fiery red and gold nature, anything regal will do for the King of the Jungle. Just the opposite, earthy Virgo looks great in any shade of green or golden-brown. Or with the August verdant green peridot gemstone set in gold, you can’t go wrong for both signs.

And generally speaking, that New Moon in Virgo also signals to all of us, a time for giving somewhat serious thought to somber September and all the trappings of Fall. Oh, not that Fall can’t be fun! You know we’ll make it so. It’s just back to school, back to work … with daydreaming moments of our memorable Endless Summer.

August’s Vintage Song of Note

As I researched interesting stories for our vintage Song of Note, I discovered that two songs on the KNDE/Sacramento, California, “Rock Kandie” music chart of August 27, 1975, credited the oft-celebrated Polish composer and brilliant pianist, Frederic Chopin (1810-1849), for inspiration and hit-making qualities. Decidedly not Rock & Roll, but like I always say, Rock is a melting pot of musical genres, including Classical. So to help diminish our frustration of August’s tardiness, enjoy our double-whammy Songs of Note

Highest on the chart at #11 and still rising at KNDE, is the Carpenters’ “Solitaire.” The centuries-old card game soothed the tortured soul of Philip Cody, who penned the cathartic lyrics  in reference to his recent divorce. Neil Sedaka, a fan of Chopin, integrated his musical art into the ballad’s composition. That’s a heavy-thinking burden to load up on a song!
But Karen Carpenter’s smooth delivery is a perfect complement and made it a 1975 hit for her and her brother. Since, it’s been recorded by more than 90 artists.
While life goes on around him everywhere | He's playing solitaire Hmmm, I do that just for life in general!

On the other hand, prolific and versatile singer/songwriter, Barry Manilow, manifested “Could It Be Magic” just starting up the chart at #27. Manilow admits he began the tune, inspired by Chopin’s Prelude Op. 28, No. 20 he’d been playing on the piano. In fact, it’s incorporated note-by-note in his tune. But I’m not sure how Chopin would react to it!
Throughout the song, and in adding the lyrics, Manilow built on a crescendo from start to finish … and as everything in ‘70s music pertained to sex, drugs, and/or Rock & Roll … he purposely ended it with a climax that even he called a “musical orgasm.” At least, that’s how he hoped listeners felt. And this is the only part of the lyrics I felt could be used in a “family” article
😊 Now, now, oh now, now oh now and hold on fast | Could this be the magic at last

Whether you’re playing solitaire in your alone time, or conjuring spells while you meditate on your future, hope you enjoyed our dynamic-duo of ‘70s songs ... read more tuneful vintage tidbits to manifest your memories and/or meet the iconic music that keeps the Rock Rockin’ from 50 Years Ago this Month!

֎ More AUGUST Fun for Everyone
SO much fun for your Inner Child this month! It is, after all, the final official month of Summer, and we’ll help you enjoy every minute, or even make it an Endless Summer

It isn’t too late to have some fun with this month’s “Arrr-gust” International Pirate Month! If you’re a Facebook fan, the sponsored link will send you off the plank—in an amusing way. They really get into it.

But if all that “Captain Jack Sparrow” stuff (ya know, the Pirates of the Caribbean cad) isn’t for you, have a sit-down with yourself to contemplate, What Will Be Your Legacy Month. Though no longer with an official sponsor, 39AHC has it covered for you! The special link is to our Boomer Legacy page, where you will find gentle nudging and helpful tips to write your “Living Legacy.” We all have a story—some may be more exciting than others, but they (we) are all important. Start now. Record your legacy.

Early August special days I missed, but hopefully you didn’t:

Friday ~ August 1st: Do ya like to tip an ale or two now and then? Do it today! It’s International Beer Day! And on a Friday, no less. Interestingly, the sponsoring link is Wiki. I’m not gonna lie … I tip a few beers now & then … and it doesn’t matter what brand, type, or flavor. I am non-discriminatory. My family is Irish—a little (or lot) imbibing comes with heritage—and I can say that because I can also take a joke about it. Cheers! Sláinte!

Week of August 1st ~ 7th: What?! I missed International Clown Week? Stupid toe. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, it’s an official designation, as quoted from the dry and decidedly not funny, link on Wiki. Re: National Clown Week: “On October 8, 1970, Public Law 91-443 under the 91st Congress, JJR 26 was passed by both the House and Senate and was sent to President Richard Nixon for his signature. The joint resolution was signed into law by President Nixon on August 2, 1971.” Surely, there is a more fun way to celebrate clowns.

Saturday ~ August 9th: Got a fishing pole? Ready to head out to your nearest lake for some Full Sturgeon Moon Magic? Don’t know what a sturgeon is? They’re a large (up to 7-12’!) yummy and once-plentiful freshwater fish found in many pockets across America. Prehistoric-looking, it indeed, originated around 136 million years ago. What does it mean for you? The effects of this moon will last well into the latter part of the month as a reminder that life today and yesterday is all connected. Make the most of it.

So let’s move now, into the latter half of August to wind up our Endless Summer

Week of August 12th – 26th: Shhhhh, don’t tell them that’s two weeks, not one, but regardless, they’re calling it World Photography Week. That’s OK. Gives us more time to take great Summer pics! It’s also
a build-up to
World Photography Day on the 19th and time to post your pics on any social media with #WorldPhotographyWeek2025 (and more) and they’ll post the most-liked pics on their site. See their info for details!

Saturday ~ August 23rd: Rhymes with Find Your Inner Nerd Day. The perfect day for you if your 39er Inner Child is a nerd! The sponsor founded the day and tagged herself as Your Nerdy Best Friend. Go check it out and enjoy wallowing in all the tech stuff she can teach you!

Saturday ~ August 23rd: When you’ve sated your Inner Nerd Child, enjoy the evening in New Moon Musings. Always signifying a fresh start, August’s New Moon gives you an opportunity to review the past month and plot your course for the next. Enjoy the mental boost!

Wednesday ~ August 27th: This may be my new favorite day! It’s as inane as they come and everyone can return to their childhood memories on World Rock Scissors Paper Day! I kid you not! It’s a real day … and … it has moved out of childhood game play to professional—and joyful—friendly competition status. Check it out. It isn’t just for 39ers, and if nothing else, it’s a fun excuse for dodging work.

39ers Aging with ATTitude July 2025

Jivin’ in July’s Summer Party Fun!

Happy UN-Birthday JULY 39ers! ♪ And many more… ♪ We’re jumpin’ and jivin’ through the Summer heatwaves, thinking thoughts of cool libations and hot fun with friends. Whether you’re 39 and Holding for the first time or the tenth time this Summer, we’re never too old to enjoy it!

֎ Celebrating JULY 39ers ~ And More!

Is your Inner Child making the most of the Summer of 2025? Although there is much to be said for reminiscing over the past and planning for the future, it’s the here and now that counts the most. This is when memories are made!
There are still some images to be posted, but we made it ON the 10th! So, when you’re ready for a break, 39AHC will give you a breather with ways to make more memories, or stretch your mind with tidbits and trivia … but first …

July’s 39er Stars of the Sky

For all of us: Regardless of your birth month, it’s a Summer for that special connection. Whether it’s love in the sun or business in the boardroom, or simply a chat with a new neighbor, you’ll likely enjoy the ride and may even discover a new route. The Full Buck Moon urges us to pull old projects out of our desk drawers or forgotten folders and give ‘em another look-see. Fresh perspectives can yield great results. So …

Cancerian 39ers (06/21-07/22), if you already have love in your life, July 10th’s Full Buck Moon will shine brightly to reveal the spectacular, or the growing cracks. Giving it your attention will help you decide which will bring fulfillment to your Summer. If currently unattached, this Summer might offer a thrilling new connection. By the time July 24th’s New Moon emerges, an innovative business link could open your immediate future to an exciting venture. Enjoy!

Dear Leo Lions (07/23-08/22), are you ready for a smashing Summer? Although a setback or two may have you scratching your head in consternation at first, by mid-month a couple of needed decisions will set things straight. Just be sure you’re making yourself clear, so there are no misconceptions. Both personal and professional relationships could be affected; but the real excitement begins with the New Moon. Is a life-changing opportunity in the mix? You’ll know it when you see it.

Are you looking for special gifts for your Cancer or Leo friend? Cancer may be represented by the Crab for its often reclusive nature, but coax them out of their shell with something that promotes inner peace. Hint: the opalescent Moonstone is their birthstone, and soothing by nature. For those who have a Leo in their lives, remember, they love to laugh! Give them anything that speaks to their passions and charming drama, or offer a fiery Ruby red birthstone to inspire them.

July Vintage Song of Note
It’s mid-Summer and we be jive-talkin’ at the pool! There’s nothing 39ers enjoy more than good talks with good friends around the pool, party room, or local hangout. Although our Song of Note began as an interesting rhythm inspired by the sound of the road, titled “Drive Talking,” it became a great Disco tune in an ode to “
Jive Talkin’”!

How did it come to jivin’ rather than drivin’? The Bee Gees’ daily commute took them down the
Julia Tuttle Causeway from Florida’s Biscayne Bay to their studios in Miami. “Drive Talking” came from the repetitive sound of tires on asphalt that commuters know well … and apparently being lost in thought to the rhythm. Well, I guess that proves inspiration can come from anywhere! But the title didn’t stick, as they began crafting lyrics to make it a dance song.
That worked! “Jive Talkin’” became their anthem for returning to music charts’ Top 10. Thinking they were singing about dancing and communicating, they were only slightly nonplussed to learn that back in the day, “Jive Talkin’” was a Black expression for B.S.
Either way, the lyrics work and you can hear the road’s rhythm in the opening drumbeat Jive talkin’ | You’re telling me lies, yeah | Jive talkin’ | You wear a disguise More tuneful vintage tidbits to manifest your memories and keep the Rock Rockin’ from 50 Years Ago this Month!

֎ More JULY Fun for Everyone

Although the first two celebratory “days” below have come and gone by the time this article posted (so sorry!), I think they’re still worth including and giving some thought to. And away we go …

Let’s swing into Family Golf Month with gusto! There is no sponsor link, so I offer this special mention, not because I play the game, but only to acknowledge there is a golf course that can be seen from my home. I often watch the fanatics strolling around the course, teeing off, in cool rain of Winter or the hot shine of Summer! That’s dedication. If you’re one of ‘em, course specials abound—especially during Family Golf Week—there’s bound to be one in your area. Have fun!

In case you’ve been exploring a cave and didn’t know, it’s Summertime! With that comes National Hot Dog Month and National Picnic Month, neither of which have official sponsors, but who needs ‘em? I found recipes and more to brighten your picnic with yummy hot dogs, to go with friends and family festivities. Add them to a pretty party theme for World Watercolor Month and your Summer fun is complete …

Monday ~ July 7th: From our Big Bro site, Blast from Your Past: Although the National Day of Rock ’n’ ‘Roll is listed on some holiday calendars, there is no definitive link to a supporting site. So let’s just roll with it! It’s described as a day to celebrate the climb of emerging Rock

Radio up the charts as it gained popularity in mid-1950s through 1960s. And we’re all about that! The legends, the culture, the music and the Radio that urged us to dance, people, dance! Now would be a great day to watch Dirty Dancing (again).
And yes, there is an International Day of Rock ‘n’ Roll on July 13th, but is apparently only supported in Brazil and Ireland. Really? Never would’ve thunk it …

Monday ~ July 7th: It’s also Tell The Truth Day! Somebody thought it was important once-upon-a-time … but since the sponsor link has disappeared, apparently it is no longer considered relevant. Huh. I say, bring it back! And the link above gives you reasons why you should. I dare you … go one whole day without telling even a little white lie … especially tough on a Monday!

Thursday ~ July 10th: It’s time to gather your thoughts, 39ers, and look up! Today begins the Full Buck Moon cycle (3 days), bringing with it energizing perspectives that only come with age … as with July full moon’s namesake. This is the time that male deer (bucks) have reached maturity and shed their antlers. Even more impressive, it’s their annual rite, each year creating larger and grander sets as the years progress. Similarly, the Tlingit call it the Full Salmon Moon, signifying the fish’s return to streams and ready for harvest.

Wednesday ~ July 16th: You had to know there would be a National Hot Dog Day! It’s today! And if you follow the sponsor’s link, you can learn how hot dogs are really made, not the horror stories we’ve heard since we were kids. Do you know there is a Wiki event page and bona fide National Hot Dog and Sausage Council in the US? And this link is for tips on hot dog eating etiquette, like “Don't... Use ketchup on your hot dog after the age of 18.” I kid you not! Enjoy

July 16th – 19th: Of course, you won’t be able to enjoy National Ventriloquism Week with your mouth full of delish hot dog. However, if you’ve ever wanted to emulate Jeff Dunham, you can attend the National Ventriloquist Convention! A true celebration of your Inner Child awaits …

Thursday ~ July 24th: Today, 39ers, it’s time for you to spend a day on yourself … and your New Moon Musings. The moon phase continues for three days, so meditate, find your inner peace and let it flow through you, as you contemplate what’s going well in your life and what is not. Then consider what can be altered to align with your next month’s desired results. The New Moon is your opportunity to start fresh every month!

Friday ~ July 25th: Today is a great day to let your Inner Child loose at the closest carousel park! It’s Carousel Day or depending on your location, Merry-Go-Round Day. Wiki’s sponsor link is just givin’ us “the facts, ma’am,” with a lot of cool history, but nothing current. Every major city likely has a special carousel, like at The Beach Boardwalk, Santa Cruz, California, and The Liberty Carousel in San Diego’s Belmont Park, which is celebrating their 100-year anniversary this summer. Go ahead … no matter your age … climb on a pretty painted horse. Smile guaranteed.

Wednesday ~ July 30th: And I guess the former sponsors of Paperback Book Day gave up, with the proliferation of eBooks and audio books. Well, we aging 39ers don’t give up so easily. I STILL sell Blast from Your Past paperback books! (Hence, the links 😊) Enjoy the true tales of Rock & Roll Radio DJs in the The Swinging Sixties! (The First Five Years 1954-1959 in eBook only) Thank you Rock & Roll friends.
